Ok, ok...I know, this is freaking you out. I love music, and I have always been a Journey fan. I remember going to Skate City in 7th grade, and skating the Snowball with some girl to the song, 'Open Arms.' Anyway, I went and saw Journey and Def Leppard in concert a couple weeks ago. First and foremost, Def Lep was hilarious, these old men singing songs that are meant for all of us in our teens. "Pour Some Sugar on Me" sung by a fifty year old, beer bellied man with knock knees is certainly Bevis and Butthead worthy. Journey was good, Neil Schon, the brilliant lead guitarist, still plays as amazing as ever. Two other stalwarts, the very talented Ross Valory and Jonathon Cain (bassist and keyboards) were stunning as well. They had a singer that was, well...not Steve Perry.
My 15 year old daughter has developed the same passion for music as her Dad. She loves Journey too! We purchased the Live in Houston Escape Tour (DVD), it is amazing!<-(shameless plug) We have watched it numerous times, and are blown away everytme we hear Steve Perry. Think about it, in the 80's they didn't have all the, "make me sound better than I am" technology. Those guys went out there night after night and were brilliant. The cool thing with all of this, I have a wonderful connection with my daughter, it's our hobby together. We are petitioning, dare I say "praying," for Steve Perry to come back, and see the band do one last tour as the Journey everyone knows. Let me also say shamelessly, it's amazing the kind of talent people can posess. I believe, whether people ackowledge it or not, talent is God given. What an amazing gift. We all have a talent, use it and bless others with it.
I think this is the most unique post I have ever submitted. If anyone out there reading this knows any of the members of Journey or Steve Perry, do me a favor...pass it along. Come back Steve!!!
